FOI Request: Gross value added by industry sectors. I am currently working on my Master's thesis which covers the link of the exchange rate and M&A activity between the US and UK.
In order to do this, I am looking for data on gross value added by industry sectors. Do you have any data available on this topic? I would greatly appreciate your help. Chapter 2 of the Blue Book Publication gives GVA at basic prices on an industrial basis. The PDF and Excel downloadable dataset can both be found by following this link and scrolling down to the bottom:. I would advise using the PDF to identify the series you want, and then accessing the timeseries dataset to select the relevant table and within that table you can then select and view the individual series in order to download them.
This level of detail might be sufficient for you, but if you want the most detailed industrial information available then ONS publishes Supply and Use tables. These tables are consistent with the Blue Book PDF dataset but at a more detailed industry level but they only include data upto the latest balanced year which is currently 2010. Blue Book 2013 on 31st July will also balance 2011 annual data for the first time. The Supply and Use spreadsheets can be found here:.
In the first spreadsheet, which gives the detailed tables, the GVA information can be found on the 'Int cons' tables for Intermediate Consumption towards the bottom of the table.
